SPRINGFIELD - State Senator Bill Haine (D - Alton) was recognized today by Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons with the Retired State’s Attorney Badge.
The event was held at the Madison County Administration Building and honors Haine’s service to the people of Madison County. Haine served as State’s Attorney from 1988 until joining the Senate in 2002.
SPRINGFIELD—Metro East students and students from across Illinois rallied at the Capitol to call for state financial aid and university funding Tuesday.
Illinois has entered its fourth month with no budget to operate public universities or fund the state’s program that helps students afford college. The Monetary Award Program is the state’s college affordability program that helps roughly 140,000 Illinois students attend college.

EDWARDSVILLE – Metro East veterans came together to learn about job opportunities, educational options and benefits during a veterans resource fair Thursday.
State Senator Bill Haine (D-Alton) and Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) hosted the fair at Edwardsville American Legion Post 199 to give area veterans the opportunity to access multiple state, local and federal resources in one convenient location.
EDWARDSVILLE – Working to bring state services and resources to Metro East veterans, State Senator Bill Haine (D–Alton) and Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) will host a veterans fair from 1 to 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, at Edwardsville American Legion Post #199.“There are many veterans services available but it can be difficult to navigate them all. We want to bring these programs and organizations together under one roof to better serve our veterans,” Haine said.““This is a streamlined opportunity for veterans to ask questions, get resources and explore career paths. We want to ensure veterans can access the benefits they have earned though their service to our country,” Beiser added.The fair is aimed to provide career and educational opportunities for former service members as well as care and benefit information from public and private programs.
