Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has named Randall G. Pembrook, an alumnus of the university, as its new chancellor.
State Senator Bill Haine (D-Alton) expressed his complete support for the new chancellor as well as congratulates him.
“SIUE is a great institution and it brings so much to our region. I am happy to have an alumnus leading the university forward. The fact that he is a graduate of the university shows his commitment to the mission of SIUE. I know he will be a tremendous asset,” said Haine.
”I also want to thank General Randall Thomas and the SIU board of trustees for their outstanding work on finding such a qualified candidate for this positon.”
Haine, who has worked hard on behalf of the university to bring capital projects to the Edwardsville campus, also said he looks forward to working with the new chancellor to continue to bring projects to SIUE.
“I want to thank Steve Hansen for his work as the interim chancellor,” Haine added. “He has been a great asset to SIUE for many years.”
Steve Hansen has served as the interim chancellor since last August after Julie Furst-Bowe stepped down to serve as the vice president of instruction at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Wisconsin.
