hainehsv1SPRINGFIELD, IL – Illinois is now the final state in the nation to allow concealed carry. The Senate voted 41-17 to override the Governor Pat Quinn’s veto and enacted a bipartisan, negotiated compromise.

State Senator Bill Haine (D-Alton) voted for the override.

“Illinois finally has a comprehensive, constitutional program allowing citizens to protect themselves in public,” Haine said. “I was proud to represent the will of my constituents and cast this final vote allowing concealed carry.”

Earlier Tuesday the House voted 77-31 to override the Quinn’s veto, the Senate voted to concur with Houses override vote, implementing House Bill 183.
