SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Senator Bill Haine’s (D-Alton) effort to reform Illinois’ sex offender registration system cleared a significant hurdle on Wednesday when it passed the Illinois Senate.  The reform makes the sex offender registration system simultaneously stronger and more fair, with stricter penalties for worse offenders.  It also ensures that Illinois will not lose access to the national sex offender database and federal grant money.
